Maybe they cut the Yenta/Synagogue scenes by the time you saw it...
After the tumor stuff, J.T. decides to change religions and become a Jew. He sings a song with some wacky lyrics like "Perhaps being a Christian is the cause of my trouble/I bet being a Jew would be a utopian bubble."
So he goes to the synagogue and meets a woman named Yenta who gives him all this great information about being Jewish "And even though you are scorned/From the moment you are born/At least you are cleansed and cut/Unlike those dirty muts."
Yenta leaves and Winston comes down and sings another reprise to "Secrets" (Secrets/What is this sacrelidge?/As our hero makes a pilgramage/To the synagogue where he'll lose faith in God"). He then breaks off and says something like "Or perhaps, this will bring him closer to God. I know!..." And he sings a verse of "Perfect for an Opera."
Shame they cut it, I guess. Winston had the best line: "'Cause when you're circumsized/You never are despised/It seems our hero/Would like to bless his...
hero"
Oh well!
