Saw this last night -- would be interested in hearing what others think -- I know most people seem to talk musicals here, but thought I'd see the "buzz" on this Arthur Miller peice....
Carla Gugino has just deliverd the first Tony nomination of the season -- she was quite wonderful in bringing her character "Maggie" full cirlce from wide-eyed innocent to full fledged, booze/pill riddled diva -- while never bringing her character into a caricature.
Peter Krasue had a tough role to play -- Quentin is a troubled man and dealing with many issues --I liked his performance -- at times I tink he pushed too hard and his anger/angst seemed a little forced, but not sure how else to play the role...
Curious what other think...
For me, nothing worked until Carla Gugino appeared. From then on I was riveted - to her. Seriously, despite the crisp and often clever production, the play has many longeurs and, sadly, a leading man with no weight - where weight is a prerequisite.
LOL... Undiscovered, it seems you and I were both "riveted", to the same gorgeous creature.
The reviews will be in on Friday - if she is not acclaimed for this performance then something will be seriously wrong. The take on Krause will be interesting to see.
I am very interested to see the critics takes on Friday -- like I said -- Tony performance for Carla -- I also think it was stged very well -- loved the use of the set and placing in the airport (not sure if it was done that way originally)

Carla I thought was very very good
Krause.....I dont think he had it...however....I did go to a very early preview, so maybe he hadnt gotten a hold on the character yet...plus...this is not a favorite play of mine but this production didn't change my view
ATC board was a link for a review..

A lifetime ago I saw a production with Langella & Weist that I liked better than this, but even then....I am no fan of the play
