Aida 8/14

This is the first time I saw the show, so bear with me. I'll start off by complementing the cast. Everyone was great, especially Deborah and Lisa. Adam was Adam, always in perfect form. Mickey was great, too. I was amazed by the scenery, by far some of the best I've seen on a stage. I was seated in the balcony which was a problem for two reasons: a, the seats are horribly uncomfortable and b, I couldn't see a thing. i stood up through all of act two and saw a drunk couple waltzing through A Step Too Far. My major complaint was that the book and music was terrible! The story was very weak, as was the music. The "Aida, Aida, Aida, Aida" in Dance of the Robes reminded me of one of Tim Rice's earlier works: "Evita, Evita, Evita, Evita." At the stage door, Deborah and Adam didnt come out to sign, but luckily I got them before the show. The rest of the cast was happy to give autographs. All in all, it was a semi-enjoyable night, but I can see why it's closing.

I was there tonight too. I enjoyed it but sadly I didn't get Adam beforehand re: Aida 8/14 I wanted to meet him so badly. How did you meet him before? He didn't leave the theatre after the matinee. I asked and they said he was probably sleeping in his dressing room. I will always love the original cast best. I was at the stage door too and all the people who did sign were incredibly nice, especially since it was raining! I'm sorry you didn;t like the book and music re: Aida 8/14 I love it. I cried at the end. It was my last time seeing the show. I was in row 2 in the center so I saw everything pretty well. It was a beautiful and fantastic show, as always. We'll miss you Aida! -Penny

Did you hear Mickey's two songs? He is NOT right for that part at all.

Yes, I did. I love the original Zoser (John Hickok) very much and thought he was perfect but I think Mickey did a good job too. He has a different kind of voice. It didn't make him bad though. -Penny

Ok, the dancing was good...and there were a few songs that stood out. "Fortune favors the brave, not me, elaborate lives, a step too far." The last one in particular because of the drunk couple dancing through it.

And the set design and costumes are pretty fab.

I don't get how stars don't come out the stage door after the show cuz it seems like this occurs a lot with Adam Pascal and the cast of Wicked. Like, what do they do? Are there other exits they can sneak out of? (Like, I guess the main entrance.) Or do they, and I suspect this is the cast, actually live instead a little space under the stairwell in the theatre where they're locked away after each performance?

I know there is a door on the other side of the building for Wicked. Once at The Producers Gary Beech walked out behind me, sneaking out in a hat and long coat. I guess they sneak out any place they can. It's sad to me re: Aida 8/14 -Penny

I feel bad going up to people before the show. I fel like they have to get in and get ready and I'm bothering them. I dunno, maybe I'm just weird. -Penny

Too bad she didn't end up with the Radames standby, huh? :)

As a loyal and self-professed fangirl, I must say that Adam is way better than the Radames understudy. *pause* Though I have never actually seen either. But Adam is still better.

Sorry, inside joke :)

As a devoted Adam fan, I can honestly say that Cheyenne Jackson is every bit as majestic as Adam. (They're so different, it isn't fair to say one's better than the other.) But I would have been really happy if the show had stayed open and Cheyenne had taken over Radames.

haha. NNY! Ponine - dont be so quick to come to adams defense. Cheyenne is amazing in the role. I would say that he is equally as good as Adam. Just in different ways. Yes, adam is adam and he originated the role, but Cheyenne Jackson also brings a wonderful performance to the plate when he gets the rare chance of going on. I was lucky to catch him when adam got caught in traffic - i feel so lucky i got the chance to see him in the role before AIDA closed.

Adam's voice is Adam's voice, and I love it at times, but when I saw Cheyenne, I did enjoy hearing the "smoother" voice in the role, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I love Adam!
I also thought Cheyenne and Deborah's chemistry was amazing!
