Well, I must admit that the 'Toni Baxton' edition of The AIDA Playbill IS quite attractive. I dare say I might prefer it over the usual one.

What's so exciting about it? It's an airbrushed publicity shot from her music career on top of the old logo. I can't wait to see the shots of her actually in costume.

I think it looks cheesy. Like Duane said...publicity shot.

I just like the way they did it with the logo, geese.

Now why could they not have done that for every other Aida? Not that I have anything against Toni Braxton...But I heard she started with demands before she even got to the theatre...Like having the carpet changed in the backstage/dressing room area because "she didn't like it". 'Sup with that?

she's a diva in her own mind. what do you expect??
for the record, i said the playbill was attractive... more attractive than the other other playbill. I never said it was an appropriate playbill. frankly, i think the image would have been better suited as a poster /advertsiement art, but it is attractive nonetheless.

umm, not so much. it could've been good if it was someone awesome, but I'm afraid Toni won't hold a candle to Heather or Simone. I always wondered why she was never Nala in Lion King, that character fits her most outta the Disney Shows, certainly more than Belle, and Toni would sing a good Shadow Land.
I agree Robactorguy- she would sing a nice "Shadowland". The role does fit her very well, actually. It's a shame they want to put her on Broadway and miscast her all the time. Finally, a role she could do well!

there are many other roles she could play out there, just not AIDA. She could possibly even play Deena in Dreamgirls, but that might be stretching it too.
Nala is great. It's got nice star power, she makes her entrance in act II sings her phenonemal song. blah blah, you know. She can be Glinda/ Aunt Em in the Wiz... ANYTHING but AIDA.

Well you see...
I hated her as Belle. Her voice was totally wrong for the part and how Alan Menken could be so thrilled about her joining the cast that he wrote a whole new song for her, (although I'm glad he did because I like "A Change in Me"), is beyond me. Her voice simply isn't Broadway, so why try and stick her in a Broadway show? To sell tickets...yada yada yada...blah blah blah. I hate the fact that they had to have the cast relearn songs in a lower key just to suit her, although that isn't a big deal - but STILL!However, I'll reserve my complete opinion until I see her in Ocotber.

Nala would probably be too small a part for her diva style.

They could always rework the show so that Simba is the supporting role and Nala is the lead.

If Nala is good enough for Heather it's more than enough for Miss Bankrupt Braxton.

But Nala was pre-Headley divaness. She was still an unknown then.

ok i hafta say you're right about that one, but you know I wouldn't mind as much if she could actually sing and act the part!!!
I think the Playbill looks like CRAP!!!! It is the cheesiest thing I think I have ever seen. I am never normally so negative about things, but good golly, it looks awful.
It must cost a fortune to print!
