Hello All!
I checked out Numerous Music Books from my School Library, and Ain't Misbehavin'. I don't own the cast recording(yet), but I do have Broadway's Lost Treasures and I have seen that clip on there.
Anyways, right now I can make as many copies as I want at my mom's work.
SO I was wondering what are the good songs(or all the songs) for guys in Ain't Misbehavin'

Posted: 1/4/06 at 11:25pm"Mean to Me" was sung by Nell Carter. "The Viper's Drag" is AWESOME and was sung by Andre De Shields - It's one of my favorites.

It celebrates the music of Thomas "Fats" Waller and is a Gem! (Nell Carter won the Tony I believe, She became famous from this show.)

Aren't they really all songs for men since they're from Fats' collection of music?
edited for spelling.

Most of the music in the show is wonderful. I recently directed a production and it was an absolute joy to watch and listen to the music every night. The songs mentioned are some good ones for men:
'Tain't Nobody's Business If I Do (Really fun song)
Your Feet's Too Big (Good comedic number)
The Viper's Drag (My second favorite song)
Black and Blue (an incredible song gave me chills every night)
A note while Fats wrote most of the songs they weren't all written for him some were written for women to sing(mean to me for example) so I would say they are all appropriate for men to sing. Also the songs in the closing medley were not written by Fats they were songs he recorded and performed during his career. They are great fun to stage and give the show a lively ending but they really don't belong in the show, I think his work can stand on it's own and I would end the show with Black and Blue and replay Ain't Misbehavin for the finale/curtain calls song.
I do question the performing of this show with a white cast, I don't really think it would work, if you don't believe me read the lyrics to Black and Blue.

"I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling" can be sung by anyone--female, male, black, Asian, white, old, young--you name it.
Make sure you've got just a little naughty subtext going on when performing it. This is a family board so I must be a trifle oblique.
At the start of the song someone has just begun to do something truly astounding to you someplace with their tongue, and that "feeling you're falling" just builds and ebbs and flows and makes you all a-tingle. Convey it all with just your voice.
The key here is that you're the only one who knows this subtext. Don't tell anyone about it. Perform the song and see if anyone is smart enough to get it.
Learn the song and the subtext at the same time.
Ain't Misbehavin' is a wonderfully raunchy show--in the nicest way possible. There's a lot of this kind of subtext in the show.

"Black and Blue" from Ain't Misbehavin'
...I’m white...inside...but, that don’t help my case
That’s life...can’t hide...what is in my face
How would it end...ain’t got a friend
My only sin...is in my skin
What did I do...to be so black and blue
