Really? I was WAY out of the loop on this production, but learning that all these new songs are being added -- that makes me think that they are producing the show NOT "just so it can be licensed" but because they actually DO have plans to do something with it (Broadway?).
If I had a regional theatre, I would want to license ALADDIN and make it as close to the movie as possible, because that's what my audiences know. BUT if a revised ALADDIN were a hit Broadway show, then I'd want the revised version!
Plus, If the 5th Avenue Theatre's production turns into one monster hit, there's no way it would not go on to other professional venues/Broadway before being available for licensing.
