The cruise Ship Production of Hercules actually looked pretty entertaining but then again Hercules is one of my favorite Menken scores!

Alan Menken, you're great, you write great songs, I think you're wonderful, but it's time to break away from Disney, realize these cartoon to stage adaptations are charmless and not a hair better than the great animated features, and write original, new musicals NOT adapted from Disney. Yes, I know you have two in the works now, but keep doing them. That's what writers do. They write new musicals.

Personally, I don't get why so many of you are so excited. It'll be as tacky and charmless as Tarzan and Mermaid were. Disney should develop a property that's not from one of their films, hire good writers and theatre artists, and work that way. They're Disney. If Disney presented 'Caroline, or Change' it would still be running. They're brand name enough for a show to run.
