Although abbreviated, I assume that's the original Michael Bennett choreography?
Of the three songs written for that slot, I always found Lucy and Jessie the least satisfying aurally. But the more I see of it, the more satisfying it becomes.

While these recreations are great, and obviously PJ's videos are spectacular, it's always struck me as sad that none of the Prince-Sondheim shows up until Pacific Overtures got Tony performances. Company didn't due to the 25 years of Tony celebration that was going on that year. Follies didn't and I don't know why. Ditto Night Music.
Oooo.....Thanks PalJoey! This is the first time I've seen that wonderful vid you linked to.
FOLLIES didn't because that year they chose to showcase numbers from the previous season's big winner, the revival of NO, NO NANETTE. There was also a long sequence from AIN'T SUPPOSED TO DIE A NATURAL DEATH (that must have bewildered most TV viewers), a segment from J.C.SUPERSTAR, a lengthy tribute to Richard Rodgers, and Ethel Merman re-creating a dozen of her hits before getting her lifetime achievement award.
In 1973 their theme was the wide world of Broadway with numbers from foreign productions of KING AND I, SHOW BOAT, an Italian musical CIAO, RUDY and a high school production of MY FAIR LADY.
It wasn't until 1976 that the format of presenting one song from each of the nominees was solidified.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
