So pleased to hear Patrick Marber's Howard Katz is going into production in 2007, especially with Alfred Molina, perfect casting. The play is excellent, one of my favourites, but certainly not for everyone.. the title character is very dislikable. I'd be interested to see if it goes under a lot of rewriting before it opens.. it needs it in some places just to tighten it. Has anyone else read it?

I agreee! I can't wait to see Molina tackle the role of Howard Katz. I read the play, and I can visualize Mr. Molina bringing this character to life on stage in its American premiere. I also agree it's not for everyone as it can be explicit (the masseuse scene!)
I'm also not too sure what you mean by tightening? I thought the play flowed pretty nicely, and I'm positive it will translate well on stage as the plot occurs over a year and a half and the stage directions clearly direct time changes into the plot.
