Does anyone know what Alice Ripley has been up to recently? I haven't heard much about her for a while. I assume she's been gigging with her band, but anything theatrically? I would love to see her back on Broadway (or even doing something really cool regionally) - she's such a cool lady. Anyone??
She played Lily Garland in ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY late last year in Boston and Genevieve in THE BAKER'S WIFE in New Jersey a year ago. Right now, she's taking a break from acting.
MEF . . . . ahh . . . thanks for reminding me of Alice as Genevieve. What sheer heaven!!!
I think her band, Ripley, has a concert in the city soon.
I saw her in a concert of ALW songs which was on tour, not sure if thats done now or not.
Really, bwaysinger? I haven't checked her website in ages. Do you have any more details???
I'd love to see her and her band! Alice Ripley is amazing!

I wonder if she'll ever update officialaliceripley.com again. She was really funny on that.
She hasn't given up on theatre completely. I mean, come on, she just did an ALW concert in Iowa last week! (Please sense the sarcasm in my tone...) And earlier this year she worked on a reading in NY. I'm sure she'll return to Broadway when the tim is right. :)
Anyway, here's the dealie... her band has a new CD coming out (that SHOULD be released really soon...). The music is freakin' amazing and you should all buy a copy as soon as it comes out!!!! (That's not a suggestion, it's an order.) The CD's titled Outtasite. It's hot. You'll love it... you'll live it... well, you'll at least buy it. :) (I swear I'm not a shill, I just really love it. Really.)
I'm not sure any concert dates are planned, but I'm assuming they'll be doing a few in NY this summer. I hope.

Geez, wasn't this CD supposed to come out like 2 years ago? It better actually be happening this time. Do you happen to have a track list, Illegally Blonde? I'm assuming from the album title that "Outtasite," that she'd been playing on her last bunch of gigs in NY, will be on it. What else was there??? "Dangerous," "Dear Jane," "Arthur"...any of these make the cut??
Ha, yeah, two years ago...then last fall... then this past February... and... then... "this summer". I'm going to PM you. :)

Yeah...this summer better be the last "coming soon."
ETA: Ahhh, I can't wait for a new Alice CD!
I'm tres excited...assuming it actually happens this time. Alice has officially joined the Adam Pascal (which totally wasn't worth the extended wait) and Michael Cerveris (we'll see if these supposed EPs actually make it out this summer) on the "coming soon"..."still coming"..."ok, maybe next year" front.
I think it's been 2 years since I've seen Alice in concert! Ah, I miss her...and Shannon.

I would love to see her do more straight plays - she did Adam Bock's Five Flights (author of Swimming in the Shallows w/ Michael Arden in it) a few years back, but I don't know if any since then?
I can't wait for her next album - Everything's Fine is up there on my list of "Most Played".

Fabulous Invalid in Boston... and Shakespeare in Hollywood in D.C. I don't remember if those were before or after Five Flights, but the ho' can definitely act.
IB, I can't send you a PM, but yeah, a Red Lion gig (or two, or three) would be AMAZING. Figures, I'll (knock on wood) actually be in the city this summer...wouldn't want to have a slew of gigs like a couple summers ago...Noooo.

There needs to be more West Coast gigs for Ripley (both the Alice and the band). Like San Francisco. East Coast gets everything... we get... Lestat.
Yes, I'll be in the city this summer as well. I missed all those gigs before the big relocation because *I* was out of town. Not cool. Not cool at all.
