Alice and Emily - What a night!

While I was certainly consulted on the material, and provided the charts for the numbers we'd previously recorded, I didn't really have or want input on their other material. I did make a couple of suggestions and that was about it. For those who are interested, we're going to really try and get this out for Christmas - keeping fingers crossed we can at this busy time of year.

As to the fellow who said Alice's voice is "shot" - having just heard the roughs of the recording, if that's a "shot" voice, give me it every time. They had done a complete runthrough at three-thirty, and we did record some of that just in case.

Part of the She's Gone thing was because she'd decided to end the song on the low E. When I heard it I didn't think it was strong enough and felt that the emotion of the song is all building to the final slide up, the way she does it on the album. So, without a lot of rehearsal time, she went for it and I thought she did just fine.

I cannot wait for the c.d.

and P.S.

Alice sounded AMAZING. The whole night. Just perfect!

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

I never said her voice was shot. Having not attended the concert, I can't say anything to that effect. I said "I heard from people who attended that her voice was shot."

I guess not, though.

What funny story about Lauren Kennedy did she tell?

It's the same one that I'm pretty sure she's been telling for years. The understudy costume story, where she was out for the matinee, they didn't switch the costumes, she couldn't fit into Lauren's dress, the little guys danced about ten times more than they should have, they got into the sarcophagus on the wrong sides, quickly switched and went about the show, yadda yadda. Apparently there really AREN'T any "funny" Side Show stories if she has to keep resorting back to that one.

Those are my girls. I'm so sad I had to miss the show. Emily is the most beautiful women I have ever seen. And her voice is the best. *sighs* I love hearing those ladies sing. I'm so so sad I didn't get to go. But everyone says there will be a recording, so that is a relief.

Will the recording have Alice and Emily talking on it? I've heard them sing most of those songs before (not that I won't still buy the CD) and would love to have the stories and talking in a recording. What do you think?

I doubt it. Usually live c.d.s are just the songs.

Happy to resurrect this thread - hadn't seen the last couple of posts: Yes, the CD has the patter (talking) - we ultimately decided to make it a two CD set, because I loved the patter and was having to edit it way down to attempt to get the show to fit on one CD - so, it's basically the entire concert.

And, in case you missed the broadwayworld.com news release yesterday, we are managing to get the 2CD set out in time for Christmas. Here's the info:

On October 21st, 2006, producer Scott Siegel brought together the original stars of Side Show, Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley, for a reunion concert.

The resulting sold-out event shook the rafters of Town Hall, and will now be available in its entirety on a 2-CD set beginning December 19th.

"Featuring songs from Side Show, their two albums, Duets and Unsuspecting Hearts, and lots of new material, Alice and Emily deliver one song after another, together or solo, frequently stopping the show in the process," state press materials.

The 2-CD set is now available for pre-order at www.kritzerland.com at a special holiday price of $19.98 ($22.98 after December 31st).

The album will hit stores December 19th, but preorders will ship prior to that date and arrive before Christmas.

Two CDs to include the in-between song conversations?

Ok, I am really happy right now after a crappy day at work.

Thanks for the update! I just pre-ordered mine.
