All My Children's Jacob Young on Beauty and the Beast!

Hi! This is my very first time posting here, and just like to say that I'm a big fan of actor Jacob Young, and I watch him everyday on All My Children! I really wish I could go see him on Broadway's Beauty and the Beast but sadly I can't go see him since I live far! but I want to post a really great review from a fan who watched him on Saturday 05/13:)

" I took my daughter and 7 year old granddaughter to see the show Sat. Jacob did an excellent job! We sat in the lower Med section and had a good view of him.
At one point in the play the spot light wasn't on him and he reminded them to turn it on and then said thank you all while in character. It got a big laugh from the audience. I started taping AMC again recently because of the return of Dixie and only know of the adult JR as a prick. It was weird to see Jacob play someone so fun and jovial. During the curtain call, his character got lots of cheers. He has a new fan! "

Yeah, I was curious to see how he was. It's sort of a random character for him to play, but more power to him for taking on Broadway.

Ok, I'm a major fan of this show and the character of Lumiere. By the few posts I've done, I've made that annoyingly clear, LOL. Running Peter Flynn's website for him, I knew about this way back when, and for the longest time, was MAJORLY upset about it. The casting choice came personally for me at a very hard time in my life, when I knew a friend that I've come to see as a big brother would not be there as often as he was anymore. Plus, I've never trusted celebrities in Beauty at all. There were only a few times when I think celebs wholeheartedly did a great job, and there weren't many. In that sense, I can in every way be a theater snob.

To honestly be fair, I gave Jacob, who I have affectionately come to call "Baby Jake" (he's so young to play Lumiere, sorry! LOL), a week before I sucked it all up and went in for my *covers mouth* time at the show, and the first time since Peter had left.

I was pleasantly surprised and relieved. Right now, IMO, he's still a little shaky and unsure, but I'm assured by many that it is really just nerves. He DOES want to do a good job, and it's obvious. His strongest point is his singing (he has a pretty good voice!), and his accent is not bad. My only personal pet peeve is that he seemed very stiff and motionless at some points, which for Lumiere is very OOC, but again, just nerves for his first week. I still have not gone up to him at the door yet, not ready for that, but I have watched him while waiting for others and he's VERY kind to fans, sincerely. That scored major plus points.

Overall, as an avid Lumiere fan who was very nervous when this choice was made, I am much more at ease with it. I do plan on checking him out at least once more before he leaves, anxious to see him really loosen up and just have the potential fun that the role has to offer. Honestly, once he relaxes and feels more comfortable with it, he will go from good to great. I have complete faith in him.

Congrats to Jacob and here's hoping for a wonderful time in his run!

I think he's an okay singer.....he used to be on general hospital and for some reason he and two other characters sang in a talent show.

Just answered ya, but then I saw the message here too! LOL

As I said, it's Christopher Duva. Like Baby Jake, he's a little nervous and feeling out the role, but UNLIKE Jacob, it DOES help his character, since Cogsworth is constantly nervous and hoping he's doing everything right. I loved Jeff Brooks, our former Cogs, but Christopher is growing on me. I think both Christopher and Jacob will do just fine as time goes on.

I still think that's such random casting. I could see him as like Tarzan if he has a good voice.

on broadway.com they have a curtain call shot, they changed lumiere's "human" wig to brown for him

And though it's not the most gorgeous thing, it looks a LOT better in person than it does in that picture. Minus the freaky blonde highlights, it looks like Lumiere's hair in the film.

It's nice to see a young, good-looking Lumiere back in the role. The actors lately have been older, more tired-looking, and it's nice to see youth again in Ashley Brown and Jacob Young!

IMO, Lumi's supposed to be an older, more sophisticated handsome kind of guy. I mean, according to a few lines, he and the others raised the Beast...who now looks like he can be Lumiere's father. =)

Apologies, much as I have come to like Baby Jake, I'm still a loyalist to the canon realm of the older Lumiere. =)
