I was wondering if someone could clarify for me what these shows are about and who is going to be starring in them.
All I know is they are both shows containing pre-existing songs.

They will be about...some kida vague plot, probably involving a love story, stuck around the songs.
All Shook Up, from my understanding, involves a mysterious stranger who isn't Elvis but sorta resembles him coming into a town and...oh, probably introducing rock n' roll, love, and happiness or some such thing.
Good Vibrations is about kids who go to California and...find love and happiness or some such thing.
It's not really about the plot, in case you haven't noticed.

Jennifer Gambatese is starring in All Shook Up!!!
I saw it up in CT and it was a really fun show. I recomend it. A lot of changes will be made before it comes to Bway but I'm sure they'll make it even better.
PM if you want a summary to the best of my memory. It will have spoilers so I don't wanna post it here. Also, I'm sure a lot has changed by now seeing as they've added a few songs since the pretty bare bones CT run. I loved it anyway.

Got this in my mailbox today:
You asked for it! Good Vibrations, the new musical featuring the classics by The Beach Boys, is coming to The Eugene O'Neill Theatre this winter. Tickets GO ON SALE MONDAY for this brand-new show. Performances start December 20, 2004, with opening night set for January 27, 2005.
Good Vibrations features music by The Beach Boys, but it is not the history of the Southern California group. The show follows the romantic misadventures of a group of small-town teenagers on a life-changing odyssey to the Promised Land: the beaches of Southern California.
Good Vibrations includes more than thirty songs by The Beach Boys. It is directed and choreographed by John Carrafa, who choreographed the Tony Award-winning Urinetown, has a book by Richard Dresser and will feature Justin Guarini, the runner-up from American Idol's first season, along with a cast of energetic up-and-comers. Escape the winter blues and be the first to see this exciting new musical-book your tickets today!

Saddle Shoe...it is a real shame that there are a few people on this board who just can not stand it when someone likes something...alot!
Someone else posts a thread...and when you comment on it 'They' come out of the woodwork to scream 'shill'.
Obviously we all have certain things that we love or are very passionate about. So naturally when we see a thread pop up that is one of these subjects...I guess we are not supposed to read it...DEFINATELY not post to it...
I guess we should only read threads that are of NO interest to us...
But I to LOVE Jenn Gambatese.I also am so excited and can hardly wait for 'All Shook Up' to open.I also saw it in Connecticut.I also think that Cheyenne Jackson will be great in it.As will Michelle Kittrell from Hairspray ,Jennie Ford form Hairspray.Trisha Jeffrey who was Crystal in Little Shop...Leah Hocking and many of the others.
I also grew up loving Elvis Presley. So ...call me a shill with you...Have lots of tickets to see it ...from Chicago to Broadway...
So glad that there is such a diverse bunch here...so that you can get information ...good information on almost any subject...Guess that is why people come here

Posted: 11/7/04 at 9:55pmThe music for All Shook Up is going to be arranged by Stephen Oremus, I believe. He just left Wicked to do that. That's all I know about the show though.

It already was arranged by him, lol. In the CT playbill it says "Music Direction & Arrangements by Stephen Oremus". So, you're right.
He did a really good job :)All the songs and the way they are really fit.

First off..BRAVO, SCOTT WALKER, BRAVO re your statement on supposed 'shills'. Sure they're out there, but they shouldn't come in the way of another poster genuinely liking something and being excited about it.
That said...I was at the Good Vibrations presentation last Monday (two words: open bar!) and it was short but interesting. (if i had a nickel...) Anyway, the cast all got together and did a medley of the songs, after a short note from the director that they just started rehearsing that day. Take that as you will. It was certainly a good looking cast, and there was enthusiasm, at least from the guys, but they definitely need some work on the songs. Not necessarily the singing, but (forgive my musical terminology ignorance), in possibly bringing the keys down to something more managable. The cast was fine until they had to hit those classic Beach Boys high notes, and that was definitely mixed success.
One more note: Justin Guarini. Definitely has stage presence, and knows how to work his body and sell a song. Singing did need work, mainly in his projection and range (no news to AI folks). He just sounded really low and soft right that day, and I was hoping for more, since he was already in the show. So mixed reviews for him right now.
But the songs will definitely sell the show. As many times as I rolled my eyes when a note went awry, I did find myself wanting to sing and dance along to the music. And if they keep the show light and family friendly, I would definitely give the show a shot.

Posted: 11/8/04 at 6:32amThe recordings I've heard from the Vassar production of Good Vibrations sounded stronger than the songs on the official website. I thought it was just the quality of the recordings on the site. Justin Guarini is a crooner not a belter like most of the AI's. I've heard that Titus Burgess has a really strong voice. The Beach Boys were not belters either so it will be interesting to see how their music translates to Broadway.

I can't wait to see ALL SHOOK UP with Cheyenne!!! I LOVE HIM!!
and with Guarini's stage presence and dance moves from his lean body I will definitely see Good Vibrations... I won't care a lick about the plot!

thanks scottwalker that was a really nice and honest post! also everthingtaboo good post also!
i really did not think there were any nice people on this site after my experience here, but it's good to see a few people that are not soo mean and just nasty!
honestly, this site turned me off to broadway shows and especially finding out many people are in actors... that really gives broadway a bad name when actors are on this board posting nasty and very negative stuff! one thread posted was about how the Box office staff is soo nasty and don't give them good tickets!
well, they don't have to give nasty fans good tickets so you get what you dish out and i grew up in around the theater business and i no for a fact if a fan is nasty to the box office then you will get the worse tickets they have at that price range! it's like any other business if customer is rude they can even ask you to leave or just give you crappy seats!
those people in the box office work really hard and don't get paid that much either... i told my family what these Actors said about Box office employees and boy they said 'i hope they never get good seats again' !
if you want good seats then Be nice to the hard working people that work for the theater each day it's not an easy job and you have to deal with Snotty nosed rude people all the time, and once in a while you get some really nice customers!
i know more about the theater then most of the people on this board since i grew up with my family working in the theater business! so to all the unemployed snotty nosed Actors my advice is to change your Attitude if you ever want to make a real Career in either the THEATER or in any Entertainment field...no one likes a Snobby Diva !
as far as Justin Guarini i will just keep my commments to myself and i can be a fan of his if i want to off this board and enjoy his cd and watch him on tv too...
p.s.. the shill thing i learned about what it is joining this board i thought i would like to me is really Dumb? who cares about a shill? or so what if one or so shills post? just ignore it if you don't like it? it's part of the internet i get advertisments on my message board from stuff i have no idea how they found my tiny site/ board!
ditto to scottwalker and have a nice day and happy holidays to the few nice folks on this board, best wishes to the nicer actors on this board and to the not soo nice ones good luck finding a job with such a bad attitude ! LOL

JJ, if you got turned off Broadway by a friggin' message board, I've lost all semblence of respect for you.
And if you could find a way to answer me in 100 words or less, I'd be much obliged.
