So any piece of art depicting this subject matter has to be handled in the absolute most obvious, resolutely abhorrent terms? Is there no room for nuance? It's not a documentary, or an after-school speciall. It's a portrait of a particular set of circumstances.

I wish I could revisit my old says of enjoying Vegas shows. But there's less of them and air and hotel are just way too astronomical. It's clear that the major players are pivoting toward the monied older crowds, it's no longer the oasis for the common people.

I'm glad I decided to wait until previews start to see how sightlines were. For these prices they better be downstage of those steps 95% of the show.

Let's all be honest, as much as we love Nicholas, it's going to be a tough sell. Face facts: they're going to have to market this show heavily to make civilians understand the show has a framing device to open up this role to non-traditional (people of color) casting. There's a lot of mental gymnastics for especially the older crowd that might actually grow up or listened to Bobby's music back the day.

Saw the West End production over the summer and while I'd love to see that production here (I see it fitting nicely in Hudson) I don't think it would fly with audiences that would assume a production level on par with the original at these prices.

I've ever been so disappointed by a Broadway announcement. While I hope I'm wrong, I feel like NPH and Hough will just tank the beautiful spirit of the show we saw in DC. I mean, my God, the font size of his name says so much about where the beautiful balance between Joe and Applegate's story we saw in the DC production.

Reading his NY Times' obituary (something I never thought I'd have to read so soon) I'd totally forgotten we went to the same high school, graduating about 8 years before me. Spring Awakening was transformative for so many musical theatre lovers, whether it be their introduction to the form, or those of us who'd been around the block a few times. Musical theatre brings people together and it one shot, he created a lasting legacy. He will be missed.
