Playbill said that general tix sales by phone are starting today,
So can the general public (not american express) buy tix?

Well both of them have the word general in them so I'm assuming yes.
Another question - why do they sell all orch and mezz seats for $100, and balcony for $19? Is it THAT bad?

No idea--maybe it's an error because to go from $100 to $19 is kinda drastic and I'd definately rather pay $81 less.
It's not an error. The show is set in 1955, so they decided to make all of the balcony seats $19.55. I got Balc A 101-102, which overhangs middle of orchestra. Sat REAR balcony many times in this theater and never had a problem.
I think the $19.55 tix are a great idea !!!
The Balcony at the AIDA Theatre is also very very very far away and very high up. It sounds like a good price!
Always loved the "Aida" pool scene from up there, however!! :)) Front Balc seats should be very good, and awesome for that price (which is also good for Friday- Sunday shows !!!)
I spoke to several people at ticket master today.. the artical on playbill.com is worng ticket go in sale to none amrican express holders on Oct. 3rd (Jenns las day at hairspray, lol) you do still need the code for tickets this week. (at least as of 12:30 this afternoon)
Also I think it is really cool that that is what they are charging for the balcony.. it's creepy up there but lol I'll def be sitting up there a lot lol.
Is this for when it comes to Broadway or when it has its run in Chicago?

Still newish to the board: I for one think that this tickets pricing idea is awesome. It's nice to know that these producers are at least thinking about those theatergoers who CAN'T pay $100 for a ticket.
I hope they get lots a people in the seats!!!
