The way Musker and Clement tell it, is that they went with Randy Newman because it was easier to get Lassetter on board.

And that's why I think Lassetter is a big jackass who makes movies that are always a half hour too long.

I'd rather see Bedknobs and Broomsticks on stage. With a touch more of the book's overtones. They'd probably change the soccer--uh, football-- game as they altered the jumping into the sidewalk in MP.

^ I'd love to see an adaptation of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I agree, the soccer game would likely have to go, but I'd still love them to visit the Island of Naboombu.

It's actually based on two books: "The Magic Bed Knob; or, How to Become a Witch in Ten Easy Lessons" and "Bonfires and Broomsticks."

There's more to be milled from the source material, definitely. I wonder how they would achieve the battle with the empty suits of armor and the Nazis. But after seeing the wildebeest stampede in The Lion King, I believe anything is possible.

Randy Newman killed Princess and the Frog. Dead on Arrival. His music is so unbearably repetitive. As others have said, he makes the same one over and over and over. And he insists on singing them himself, with that awful voice. Disney, please stop the madness and quit using him.

I'm pretty sure that Menken didn't do the score for Princess and the Frog because he chose to do Enchanted instead.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

jv92: Oh shut up. Not every adolescent in theatre falls into the group that want's to see "Hannah Montanna the Musical" on Broadway. I find it hilarious that you think I and other kids have never seen those shows. I'm simply saying that I loved that movie, and I think it could translate great to the stage.

nicthediva, I appreciate your good grammar and enthusiasm. My post was not directly pointed at you, just the mindless "Best Show EVUH!!" posts we've been getting bi-hourly from 10 year olds.

I guess I'm a snob. When I was 10, I was listening to MY FAIR LADY.

I know, I just wish you could give some credit to kids in theatre these days. I know some posters have been annoying this week, but not every kid is like that.

Fine, fine. Let's just all come to the conclusion that Randy Newman is a one-trick pony and John Lassetter's bias against Alan Menken makes him something of a Disney communist. The End.

The movie wasn't commercial enough, the subject matter way too dark and creepy for today's American family audiences.

It's no darker or creepier than The Lion King. That's just been a trendy excuse for years. British audiences are just as fond of light fluffy shows. How long did Starlight Express run?

WORD. I absolutely detested Princess and the Frog. It was boring, long, and the music was awful.
