Yikes! Hopefully if it comes to NYC, it will only make it as far as The Theatre at Madison Square Garden.

WHY?
As a Philly boy, can we let Bandstand be Bandstand and Broadway be Broadway?
I still have my 1960 Bandstand Yearbook with pictures of Dick Clark before he had any work done.
Dick Clark did not create Bandstand (no one from Philly calls it "American Bandstand"). He was the assistant host who got the lead job when the head guy (Tony Mamorello?) was discovered in a compromising position with one of the jailbait regulars. Tony was sent packing and Dick Clark took over.
It was a local show on Channel 6 (then WFIL) and ABC needed programming in the afternoon and picked it up to go national. It stayed in Philly for years and then Clark went to LA and so did the show. Clark later bought the show outright.
Without Italian-Americans from South Philly there would have been no Bandstand.
But a musical? Will they sell scrapple and cheese steaks at the intermission?
Sounds like your basic cheesy theme-park revue shows that are already permanently located around the country in various Six Flags locations.
Hairspray 2?
