I saw from the casting call that the Fall 2016 planned tour of An American in Paris is going out as a SETA tour. But does AAIP meet the definition of something that should be SETA? I know Kinky boots, Cinderella, Newsies, etc are all SETA also and I know how controversial this subject is, so maybe this shouldn't surprise me.
Also, some people have told me that the overage amounts a performer can earn on a SETA tour are actually tremendous, to the point where it can more than double a person's salary and actually end up being more than what one would earn on a production contract. I don't know if this is accurate, though. There aren't a whole lot of Broadway experienced ensemble people that go on these SETA tours, so the pay can't always be that good. But don't get me wrong, the people that perform on these SETA tours are damn good, they take a lot of pride in what they do.
