On paper this looks outrageous. First, hard to believe it took all this time for the rights to become available. To date there is only the great MGM/Gene Kelly musical and now the first B'way version. The Gershwin's music goes without saying and I believe this would be the first time that the orchestral work "An American In Paris" is being presented in a B'way show. The creative team is absolutely top notch with one of the world's great choreographers Christopher Wheeldon at the helm Directing as well. Rob Fisher doing the musical adaptations, Craig Lucas the book a solid set of producers, set designers and a cast including Robert Fairchild (NYC ballet's current greatest male dancer, his sister, by the way, is Megan Fairchild also of City Ballet and now starring in On the Town, and his wife is Tiler Peck, also of City Ballet, and starring in "Little Dancer"). As far as I am concerned, if anyone could match or maybe outdo Gene Kelly Fairchild is the one. The show is premiering in Paris in December and opens on B'way at the Palace Theater in April. So any thoughts?

Thanks ajh; I'm looking forward to your review. The combo of An American in Paris and Christopher Wheeldon, my favorite choreographer, sounds incredible.

I hope it's good. I love Robbie Fairchild. I'm also excited about Max Von Essen doing "I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise."

They posted this sneak preview of rehearsals last week:
