#1And Miles To Go

I always am on the lookout for big-name casts at obscure theaters, and "And Miles To Go" certainly doesn't disappoint. A teacher (excellent played by Randy Danson, who starred in Wicked on Broadway) has been teaching 40 years, and she is burnt-out, disgusted, and enraged. She screams at town hall meetings, talks back to the principal, insults the janitor, and is downright nasty to the students who are misbehaving.

Look at the 6 pictures on the Time Out review (especially the 5th picture): http://www.timeout.com/newyork/theater/and-miles-to-go. You'll get a sense of just how enraged this teacher is. Her insults to the principal and the janitor had me (and many in the audience) laughing. The principal is also played by an excellent actress with Broadway credentials, as is the principal's helper. We learn later in the play why the teacher has likely spent 40 years teaching, and what she has in mind for the future and why. Towards the end of the play, something unexpected happens which I won't spoil, but you get to see the characters in a different light (sorta like in The Breakfast Club).

I gave it a well-deserved standing ovation. Tickets are a steal at $20. Show runs 76 minutes, no intermission. Reviews are pretty positive too, such as: http://nypost.com/2013/10/11/nyc-teacher-despairs-in-and-miles-to-go/
