As far as I'm concerned, she is one of the greatest character actresses in the history of musical theatre. Even when the material is flawed, she elevates it to something Tony-worthy (like in My Favorite Year or Young Frankenstein). Hell, she won a Tony for a role that is onstage for about 15 minutes (Pippin). And who didn't love her in the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding? I really need to read her memoir book...
She's such an inspiration to me- I had the pleasure of meeting and telling her so this year.
Me: If I were doing Pippin NOW, I'd still get cast as Berthe.
Andrea (laughing heartily): Well, there are worse ways to make a career!

The highlight of Young Frankenstein, a hoot as Golda with Harvey in Fiddler, and wonderful in Exit the King and Act One. I loved her in Pippin and had the honor of meeting her and being a part of her chorus in No Time at All on the Pippin CD. I just love me some Andrea Martin!

Someone told me that she was the guest for OH HELLO recently and therefore I am ticked off for missing it!

I adore her! Listen to "No Time at All" and "He Vas My Boyfriend" often. Her "Easily Assimilated" is my favorite reading of the song. Shame she didn't play Mrs. Primrose in On the Twentieth Century. She would have killed in the role
If you haven't seen "Diificult People" on Hulu, you must! Martin is at her best in it.

We should all be so lucky to swing from a trapeze at 66. Her "No Time at All" is definitive as far as I'm concerned.
She would have been a great Letitia Primrose! I did enjoy Mary Louise Wilson though.
