re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

I heard she was leaving, too.

When does Harvey leave? Wasn't it scheduled to close in January, which is when I assume Harvey is leaving?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Her last performance is this Sunday mat. Harvey is staying with the show until it closes on January 8th 2006. I heard one rumor that the show was thinking of asking Rosie to do her part.....

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

From Rosie O'Donnell's Blog:

"the rbk kids
2 day in unison
straight lines
projection and smiles
friday is r show
parents friends family
some homeless
will watch the wonder of wonder
miracle of miracles
a cast opening night

come on along and listen to
the lullabye of broadway…
there’s no place like home
there’s no place like home
there’s no place like home"

IS SHE COMING BACK TO BROADWAY TO BE 'GOLDE' IN FIDDLER??

Don't you think, Hook, that if Rosie was taking over for Andrea on Tuesday, they MIGHT have had some publicity going on long before now?

No no, I don't think Rosie will be taking over right away. Someone from the ensemble, I'm sure, would fill in for the role until Rosie begins.

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

She talks about "projections" -- that of course means she's playing Count Fosco in WOMAN IN WHITE.

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Again, Hook, if this were actually happening, they'd be getting all the publicity out of it that they could. She's completely wrong for the part, so that would be the only reason to cast her.

She's not talking about this - didn't you read the entire entry? "FRIDAY is r show" That's tomorrow. And how many homelelss people do you think go see FIDDLER on any given night?

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

I'm going to guess three! Three homeless people! they have a lottery every night and three lucky winners get to be refugees from Anatevka!

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

rumor has it rosie has been tapped to come into the show...perhaps not so soon though. there is wide spread speculation over this but we will see

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Isn't she doing that straight play with Al Pacino?

The only musical I can possibly imagine her going into is Mamma Mia! and why ?

What about Matron Mama Morton in CHICAGO?

People really need to stop hiring Rosie for musical roles. Please. Stop the madness.

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Aww, she was cute in Seussical!

I wish she would come back and host the Tonys!

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Now don't get me wrong, I like the Rosie O enough but her blogs are lame and juvenile .

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

I agree, BB, she is trying way too hard to be deep and it doesn't work.

And Hook, she may come back and host the Tonys once she signs a binding legal contract stating she will absolutely not sing.

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

It would be logical to have someone cover Golde for awhile, and have Rosie O'Donnell do the closing 3 months of the run as a "only (amount of time) left to see Rosie and Harvey in FIDDLER" type promotion.
And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Didn't she have a big fall out with the Tony people for being too picky and demanding?
#23

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Can anyone who has seen Fiddler within the past few weeks or so please type up the current cast list for me?

Thank you! It'd be greatly appreciated.

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Harvey Fierstein and Rosie O'Donnell in FIDDLER....

It suddenly makes the "Love! Valour! Compassion!" joke about Tommy Tune and Elaine Stritch in THE KING & I all too real.

re: Andrea Martin Leaving Fiddler

Please no no no no! Rosie as Golde?? I know this production is rather, erm, imaginative. But come on!
