I just listened to some of the songs from the 1974 version of "Gypsy" she did and I really liked it. Her rendition of "Rose's Turn" was really great, really dramatic. This CD goes on my list of favorite cast albums. Who else likes this Cast Album?

This is my favorite version of this score. It is also the #1 legendary performance I would've liked to have seen.

"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."

"In Oz, the verb is douchifizzation." PRS

I used to have this CD, but I think I gave it away. I remember liking it, but didn't play it all too often.

I like this recording as well. Someone I know who saw the production said that Lansbury was terrifying in her subtlety. You could just see Mama Rose scheming about her next big idea.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I was very lucky to have seen her Gypsy and it was a legendary performance (also a Tony for her). Although the CD is of the London Cast, most of all the principals transfered to Broadway. Whatever it's worth, this is one of my all time favorite recordings and I do listen to it often. I remember as if it were yesterday that electric feeling you get very seldom in the theater -- Lansbury finished "Rose's Turn" - you could hear a pin drop for a second or two - then all at once the audience erupted into not only applause, but a standing ovation (and this is not the curtain call or end of the show!) that lasted for what seemed an eternity.

Remember that Rose is playing to an imaginary audience - Angela never broke character when the audience stood and went crazy with applause, she continued to pantomime her bows to the audience and continued until the ovation finally subsided and then continued on to the last scene. From what I understand this happened nightly.

All the other recordings of Gypsy pale by comparison.
