Actually, he has a very good excuse. According to the article, the play "has been undergoing rewrites amid preview performances."

Posted: 10/30/09 at 7:27pmEverything on stage is an illusion anyway, what does it matter if a few other things go on behind the scenes to help the performance along? As long as it isn't obvious to the audience, which clearly it wasn't, all it does is help the show run smoothly.
