I don't get to visit the city a lot but I will be there in Febuary and am looking for suggestions. I love A Little Night Music, Next to Normal, Falsettos, Chorus Line; like Billy Elliot and Hair; and did not like Mary Poppins, Legally Blonde. I'm interested in seeing Angels in America, La Cage, Chicago, maybe Spider-man, but am looking for suggestions.
If you think Angels in America would suit my taste, would only seeing part 1 be fufilling or would I be left wanting more if I didn't see part 2. Also, would you recomend reading the play before seeing the show or after. And is it true that tickets are only $20?
You should see both parts of AiA if at all possible. I think most people nowadays who see it go in having read the original, but it's certainly not necessary. It's kind of to a lesser extent like Coast of Utopia- it's nice to know about the Russian literature/history, but it's still an enjoyable play without it. Only in this case, it isn't Russian history, it's Mormon and Jewish religious ideologies and the AIDS crisis.
