The director of THE PIANIST is on his way to England to start filming for a re-make of OLIVER TWIST, according to DarkHorizons.com.

I don't mind this, I didn't care too much for the original.

The original movie musical was way too clean. The role of Nancy was played by a perky blonde girl. Nancy is an abused, alcoholic, dirty woman.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I've seen an old version of Oliver and it wasn't that clean. I was only 9 and remember getting the message that she was 'dirty and alcoholic' but mostly that she was abused and that she loved this man who was actually an ass in every way and I cried when he killed her because she loved him and he didn't even care...I mean come on...he kills her!

Is it a remake of Oliver Twist or Oliver! the musical? I think it must be the straight version (which incidently starred Anthony Newley as the Dodger). Why would "they" want to remake the musical? It would be like remaking The Sound of Music.

CapnHook, the title of this thread indicates that they are remaking the film OLIVER. However, the article clearly states that they are making a new film version of the novel OLIVER TWIST upon which the musical OLIVER was based.

There seem to be no current plans ro make a new film of the musical OLIVER. I love the Oscar winning OLIVER:)
