Thank you sammy. And lilhead, maybe one of the reasons that you are, well, the way you are, is because you're always asking people for what they are smoking. I, on the other hand, don't do anything like nor would I really like to have anything to do with you asking for such. I realize you were being sarcastic, joking, etc., it is just I hate when people say that.

I LOVE Kerry Butler's talent, but I disagree with her having the most talent of all the leading ladies on Broadway. She is a phenomenal performer, but when you have women like Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Donna Murphy, and Bernadette Peters leading current shows on Broadway, it's quite remarkable to me that you would think that Butler overshadows them all.

I truly do not think that Idina is all that amazing, I know that will make me very unpopular but I don't get it, although I will give you the rest. I was embelishing just a tad.... woops! I do that a lot lol.

Kerry was amazing in Hairspray, but terrible in Little Shop. To me, having the most talent of the leading ladies on Broadway means you are versitile and able to play many different roles WELL. One knockout role isn't enough for me to make Kerry the most talented leading lady.

I dont think Indina is that "amazing" in the role- she does a superb job but I know there are others out there than can do the role better. Stephanie Block was truly amazing in the role when she got to go on in San Fran. No one has been able to see anyone else do the role here on Broadway, so there isnt much to compare to.

Kerry Butler has the most talent of any leading lady on broadway? I have to agree with lilhead here. Kerry is not INCREDIBLE. She has a nice voice, but her acting could use some polishing. And besides the fact you've got greater talents (mhm, Donna Murphy) what about the triple threat who just left her show? Yes, Sutton Foster. There maybe some controversy on this but, I thought she was the only reason to see Millie. Her acting wasn't forced nor was it lazy. Her dancing is smooth. And I LOVE her singing voice. And that's just Sutton, there are MANY others. As for Kristin's performance. She is wonderful. Not the kind of performance where you're like "Oh My god shes not performing, I want my tickets back". Mainly because I thought the role isn't that demanding acting wise.

UGHHHHH!!!!!!! i cant take it anymore. No offense but some of you have no clue what you are talking about. It is one thing to love theatre and be excited about a show you like and enjoy insider information......but broadwaylilkid or whatever.... contract wise you are way off WAY off... most broadway contracts are one year form either first rehersal or most producers prefer first performance usually first NYC performance.....wicked is hard to say since the out of town was so far away from nyc opening....and ensemble up in junE!!! what most ensemble members have an open/ended contract (gives performers in smaller roles chance to exit for better work and producers chance to release them) but contracts are simply between individual performer, agent , and producer and vary... so stop talking like you know crap.....cause you probably stand at stage door and ask questions to the chorus boys... now everyone can we please use these forums as ways to discuss the shows performers, and yes some gossip in a educated way....i really enjoy reading these especially from most of you. dont forget alot of broadway people read these as a way to stay alert of what fans think (hell some even pretend to be fans)so come on lets talk facts or talk feelings but dont try to combine both...... love ya all and SEE A SHOW!

first of all-I love these threads--especially because we went from discussing how great Laura Bell is in Wicked to how miserable some people think Kerry Butler is. Personally, all leading ladies are going to be great at at least one thing--thats why they're leading ladies:
Kerry-Great Belting voice-hasnt had that much of a chance to prove her acting or dancing worth
Idina-Amazing voice-truly beautiful-acting is great-hadnt had a real chance to prove herself in dancing, and I'm not knowledgable enough to know her dancing experience
Kristen-again, voice is incredible strong, esp. operatic (of course b/c of her training), had never really stretched her acting shoes--though I am looking foward to Candide (one of my favorites)-diva like woah
Bernie-diva-form your own opinions, im too scared to share mine
Sutton-like said above-she is a honest to goodness triple threat- can't wait to see Little Women
I know I'm missing tons of other incredible leading women (I know...donna murphy-saw her in won. town.-shes fabulous...) but it only proves that we can';t measure an actress's worth due to how she is in one show, and how much we like that show...all of them have their strengths, and most of them have noticable weaknesses. I, for one, would love to see some of the ladies do straight dramas, to see how good their acting is without their voices....thats all, have fun bickering away!
always,
~m~

Huh- hello.... im simply stating was has already been reported..Kristen, Joel and Idina's contracts are up the end of September.... and yes, while contracts do vary, most of my ensemble friends in the show have their contracts expiring in June with the ability to resign or go on month to month extension.

I love all the leading ladies voices (does anyone else think we talk about them more than the men??) but I would also like to see them in a straight drama with a lot of emotion and see if they could deliver. Unfortunately, I'm guessing that a lot of them couldn't without a lot of help and direction. I won't say which ones in order to not make this a negative post. Good Stuff.

Yes, I realize it was a joke, as was what I said. But, otherwise you just make me mad. You seem to have the most negative attitude about everything. And yes, I am in high school, so I have the rest of my life ahead of me to do what I love. But, I am gonna say you are a bit on the old and bitter side.

And for goodness sakes people, I said I was embelishing!! I know Kerry Butler isn't the most talented person on Broadway!! Read all the posts if you are gonna say anything!!

lol- I aint old and bitter.. I'm 31...well..maybe that is old to someone in high school...ahhh..to be in high school again...Also, to clarify, I'm not an actor or a wanna be actor... but I do like to infuse this board with a bit of truth and reality when I see mis-information posted. I have the fortune of knowing quite a bit of people in the biz; I've worked in the Entertainment industry for over 11 years, both film, tv, and theatre. So while some say this is bragging, I call it experience to back up what I'm talking about.

It seems there are a lot of high school kids that post on here that think they know what goes on here on Broadway when in fact, they don't... and we seem to get a lot of these useless "Who's the nicest performer" threads that really dont mean squat...because unless you really know the person, its your personal encounter versus someone elses personal encounter.

I love that high school kids love the arts, theatre, and broadway but there are actually people on these boards that DO know what they are talking about and know facts over fiction and truths over gossip.

I might come off negative but thats because I like discussions and not just "I agree" type posts.. it's one of the things that makes public boards great, people can express their opinions and be heard.

I know there are some on here that dont like me(thanks for your messages) and others that really do respect my information (thanks for your messages)...but I'm not here to win a popularity contest or be friends with anyone. I'm simply here to talk about a personal love, theatre.

Some say I shouldn't post what information I hear from my friends...well if you only knew how much I DON'T post from my friends in shows.... but some is great information that I know I'd love to be privy to if I was a total outsider reading this board. It is meant to spark intellectual conversation or debate (yes, I do like to play devil's advocate to spark discussions).

And when I'm wrong about information I post, I gladly will apologize and say I was wrong, but when I know what I said is true, then you better have some facts before just stating: "that aint true"....

There are plenty of people on this board who do know a thing or two about theatre and the people in it.. you might want to learn from our information instead of always dismissing it.

Ok, first off I will apologize for letting my emotions get the best of me. I am a remarkably dramatic person, shocking huh?? Next I will say I know so much less about Broadway than probably anyone on this board. That is why I am here, to learn. But sometimes it seems that things get ridiculously malicious. I do like reading your posts about what you know, because it just means I get to learn more about the things I love. Trust me, it is very difficult to find someone in Ohio who knows anything about Broadway. So go on doing what you do, and I will try not to be a brat anymore. lol
