Sorry for another audition thread, but this will provide a welcome break from the Rent threads, I hope.
I'm auditioning for The Wizard of Oz, and I really need help choosing a song. I think that I'm auditioning for the Scarecrow or the Lion(it is practically an all girl cast). I was going to audition for Dorothy, but my mom wont let me(long story). I was thinking about singing Lose That Long Face, but I'd rather do something comedic. I'm a 2nd soprano/alto, but in chorus I've sometimes had to sing tenor or soprano based on how many people we had.
So, I'm basically looking for any reccommendations of funny songs that fit that description. Thanks!

Thanks for your help!
One of my friends recommended Climbing Uphill from l5y, but I dont know if the accompaniment is too difficult...opinions?
Also, any other suggestions?

Awww, why won't she let you auditon for Dorothy? The scarecrow would be fun to play. This is a weird suggestion but how about "One Jump Ahead" from Aladdin?
I also think Tap Your Troubles Away would be a great choice too. And nobody else will probably sing it.

My mom is very strict and obsessed with academics. Essentially she is afraid that if I get cast as Dorothy it ill affect my schoolwork too much, and my grades would drop. She is insanely obsessed, especially when the show doesn't even rehearse that much, and I have done the same program before and it hasn't hurt my grades...but junior year sucks. It was the only way that I could convince her to let me do the play, she wants me to stick to more academic extra-curriculars.
Anyways, thank you guys so much, I'm going to go look into that song from Aladdin, and Tap Your Troubles away, any final suggestions? I'm still debating about Climbing Uphill.

Posted: 11/28/05 at 7:54pmNever bring JRB's work to an audition unless you know that the accompanist can handle it. Nothing against accompanists, it's just that JRB's music is some hard-a$$ stuff, and VERY difficult to sight-read.
