I love how some of you act like Webber directed the musicals and designed the sets, too. Perhaps, some of your disgust should be reserved for Cameron Mackintosh or the directors of certain musicals or at Webber for not always choosing the best co-writers. I agree that Webber's musicals get a little repetitive (Aspects of Love, Sunset Blvd. (which I love despite)), but the man has written (and borrowed lol) some amazing songs--and even amazing musicals.

Cats is a good musical--I think some of you find the 20 year old PRODUCTION and arrangements cheesy. I wonder how we all would feel if it were given a 2004 update?

Phantom of the Opera--I think is a fantastic score. I did not like the PRODUCTION. Again--the writing and the production are two totally different things down the road.

Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar are sublime--his pairing with Tim Rice was perfection. I suspect that the 70s/80s arrangements (and regional theatre museum piece-esque remountings)are what turns some of you off--I NEED to see kickass new versions of both shows. But, again--the WRITING is good.

You can only critique Webber on the WRITING. Some of you are and still think it's crap--that's fine. That is your opinion.

But, just remember--not everything Sondheim has written is good--even he would agree with that.

i think catsnyrevival just found a new best friend in chenofano, haha.

i wish he and tim rice would team up again, and i do agree with namo as far as those three cords/notes/whatever they are (im not a music expert) coming in after pilate washes his hands of jesus' death, it does get me every time.
