Any understudies in Rent tonight?

Hey everyone, I'm going to see Rent tonight and was wondering if anyone knows anything regarding any of the leads being out tonight. I know it's generally up in the air, but what better a place to ask :) Let me know! Thanks!!!

I have no idea, but I have never once seen Rent and not had an understudy for at least one role.

Rent is like Chicago and A Chorus Line...there always seems to be someone out.

i agree adamgreer, ive seen it 4 times, first time maureen was out, 2nd time some ensamble members were out, 3rd roger, and back in july, collins (who's understudy was AMAYZING)

Now that I think about it, I think there was an article about Destan Owens filling in as Collins for this week.

ETA..Yup, I was right. Here it is. Owens is filling in as Collins for Michael McElroy this week.

destan was my 3rd collins, he's really great! but i still think that MARCUS PAUL JAMES collins was my favorite

Rent is like Chicago and A Chorus Line...there always seems to be someone out.

I think that's true for any large, ensemble-based, dance-heavy show. Statistically, the more actors you have, the more likely one of them will be out, especially when there is more potential for injury.

Marcus Paul James is so incredible... he should of been bumped up to full-time Collins. But at least we get to enjoy his solo.

well, he was there july 26th, cause thats when i saw it. and kyle post was the soloist, first white soloist ive seen, and DAMN he ripped it up! may i add that this has nothing to do with understudies, but Gwen Stewart is not only kind in person, but an amayzing performer.

Marcus left for 'Heights' on Sunday. He was in rehersal for 2ish weeks, and missed matinees to do rehersal. Marcus starts tonight in 'Heights'.

Tonight, Destan is on for Collins. That's the only planned understudy, that I know of.

I saw Marcus as Collins last year with Adam and Anthony.
Best cast. It was incredible.

I won Lottery Sunday night there were about at least a hundred people there. There was full cast no understudies which was good to see. Tracie Thoms was excellent and so were all the other new cast members.
