Hi..wondering if anyone else was auditioning to get into the musical theater program at Oklahoma City University this weekend? I have a friend who is and she's real nervous. The Fri and Sat auditions are completely booked..like over 100 singers! She understands that they are being very selective this year as well and accepting only 20 new MT students.

Just wondering if anyone else is going?

My sister has a friend who's auditioning but I'm not sure if it's this weekend or not. OCU is always selective, and to be honest, I'm surprised they're taking 20. That's high for a program of their size.

Last weekend I partied with some theatre folks from Tulsa Univ. They have a pretty good theatre program there if she doesn't get into the program at OCU.

And my school has a good theatre program, and you don't have to audition :) S(E)OSU all the way baby!

Thnaks for the replies.

I know my friend is excited about OCU. I mean..what other school has produced such talented and nice stars are Kristen, Kelli and Stacey?

She's also looking at NYU and University of Michigan. She's not interested in Cinncinatti at all..they were real rude to her on the phone.

Kristin also went to UCLA. My musical theatre director taught Kristin while she was teaching there. Fun stuff, huh?

Sorry...

Kristen never attend UCLA. She received both her BM in MT and her MAsters in Vocal Performance from OCU. The only other school she was going to attend was the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philly...but she got the lead at Papermill and was never attended.

Sorry..your friend is wrong.

My friend is currently a musical theater major at OCU. He's a freshman. I haven't talked to him yet, but he's an absolutely incredible singer. He's okay in everything else. I've heard that it's a pretty good school and I think he'll get far, but I'm just telling you what I know. PM me if you want me to ask him anything in specific. He's a really nice guy.

Agree with broadwaybound here. UMich has a great program. It's one of the few, like Tisch, where you can get conservatory style training along with an excellent academic education, too.

I did a musical theater "camp" there for high schoolers this summer. It was about 3 weeks and we stayed on campus, eating, sleeping, living, working... to put on a fully-staged production of "Cinderella". I personally love OCU, I love Dr. H, and I hope that when I audition next year I can get into the program.
