Does he use that squeaky, whiny voice that he used on the cast album or does he use the toned down one he used in the movie?

Moments people are interpreting as blankness or boring were some of the moments that I found most impressive. Settled in the character without making completely obvious "I'm acting!" reactions, never breaking character. There's also a certain consistence in how he's always portrayed the character that can seem especially jarring opposite Adam, who is performing the role significantly better than many of us have seen him do. Seeing Rapp perform it with that slightly changeless consistence was thrilling for some, and disappointing for some too. I get that, I guess.
this is completely off topic, but craww, i'm obsessed with your avator
Meee too.

The slightly elevated squeak/whine works better on stage than it would have in the movie. Regardless, I think the way his voice aged smoothed a little of that out. So I'd say it's probably somewhere in between the two.

I realize I may get stoned for this but I have to admit that I loved Anthony's performance.
However, I wasn't all that impressed by Adam's. It definitely was not bad though...
*I saw it Aug 11th matinée*
I've seen RENT 3 other times all with different people playing Roger and I enjoyed their performances quite a bit more than Adam's.
Just my opinion...
No stoning required - not everyone is going to love Adam's performance. However, you happened to see him while he was sick. He had to call out the night before. I don't know how much that might have affected your experience.
Chloe does have a point, he may not have been at the top of his game that night since he was sick the day before (I thought I read somewhere he had larygintis...could be wrong though). Either way not everyone likes him, but c'est la vie at least you had a fun time SweetQ! That's all that matters
