Does anyone know if Rick designed the mini kate monster for the Ave Q bear? It was awesome!!!
What an awesome event and it never ceases to amaze me how much money people are willing to spend on these bears. Some of the bears were amazing; I personally loved The Lion King and Avenue Q bears. And what a joy to see Bryan Batt on stage again- the man is hysterical- would someone please give this man a sitcom?!
There is a posting on the homepage of broadwayworld.com with pictures as well as the final auction amounts of the bears...

It was the only "green" bear.. this year the bear material was powder blue...the Wicked bear sold for $10,000. There is this lady that comes ever year with checkbook in hand and shells out thousands of dollars for bears to add to her collection. She paid $30K for a 9/11 Firefighter Bear. If you are ever in the Broadway Cares offices, ask to see the pictures of her collection..its amazing.

Posted: 2/17/04 at 2:08pmI wish I could throw away money like that. I'm not saying that the bears aren't nice and well-designed, but certainly not worth those high prices. Eh, its for charity.

It is for people that care about finding a cure for Aids.
By attending you are helping the cause. A ticket is only $35.00 and you are still helping even if you can't afford to buy a bear.
I was there to support the cause.
It is a blast.
I bought a poster for 20.00 and as soon as i find a job i will make a contribution.
Aids is a cause that should not be ignored.

As I mentioned to you the other day, Corine, BCEFA is actually not about the search for a cure for AIDS (which goes in all-caps in the U.S.), Corine. You said, "It isn't?" I said, "No, it isn't." And you said you didn't know that. Well, here you are saying it's about a cure for AIDS.
It's not. BCEFA raises its money for The Actors Fund, in order to provide financial assistance for people struggling with HIV in the entertainment industry. It's also a grant making organization that funds in many areas of interest, including direct assistance for people with AIDS via AIDS service organizations and other non-profits.
I'm surprised somebody willing to invest 1300 dollars in a teddy bear would be satisfied with a simple belief that "it's for a good cause," which it is, but doesn't it matter to you how they spend their money?

Agreed.
Corine2- I would like 2 bottles of Avon bubble bath. The pink one.

I also would rather to see my money go to help people afflicted with the desease. Let the medical industry take care of the research itself.
Anyway, I too would love to have the Millie bear, but $1300 is out of my league as well, but my house is allready full of Millie stuff, a lot of it bought at BCEFA fundraisers. Sad to say, I never won on the raffles for a lunch with Sutton, but I was glad to help, and especially letting them know it was coming from Millie fans.
We all have our favorite shows, and when the time comes, lets show our support.

I really wanted the Katemonster but 3200 whew.
I would rather buy a new wardrobe for that kind of dough.
Charity is important but i don't have that kind of dough.
Someday i will.
