Im going to this tomorrow night at dodger stages. i just wanted to know if anyone else had seen his current concert? How is it? What is he singing, etc? Ill report back after my visit tomorrow.
I saw his show last Monday and it was wonderful! He sang Sondheim, Rogers & Hammerstein and others. He did a 10 minute tribute to silent movies which included the Mack and Mabel number "Movies Were Movies". Much enjoyable conversation throughout the show. You'll love it.

I saw him when I was 12...the concert was great then!
I'm going Friday - he hasn't done a concert in New York in a little while and I'm looking forward to seeing him again.
He has said that he hasn't had time to pick all the new material for his new CD and concert, so he is doing a combination of some older material and some new things like the tribute to Silent Movies.
Still lots of Sondheim and old songs mixed in, Harry Chapin, Hammerstein...always an enjoyable show and a great showman.
Yes, his Harry Chapin song was the best I've ever heard! The Cat's in the Cradle? Is that the right title?

Yes... loved Harry Chapin and would love to hear Mandy sing it.

I remember when I saw him he sang, "Taxi"...that's Harry Chapin, too, right? I LOVE how he does that one. It's on one of his albums, too.
And his "Once Upon a Time/Casey" medley is beautiful...I wonder if he still does that one.
I bought tixs for October 9th. I am really excited. I hope they sell some CDs there.
I've never really cared for that Harry Chapin song after hearing it sung once or twice, but I LOVED Mandy's interpretation of it. Wonderful and touching!
Once Upon a Time and the Casey Medley are things he hasn't done in quite some time, but you never know with him. He often changes the show in the middle of the performance and Paul Ford (amazingly) always keeps up with him. He hasn't done Taxi recently either but again you never know
As for CDs, he doesn't have a new one out yet. He and Paul Ford are still picking material, but there may be CDs from his previous selections on sale. Oscar and Steve is a favorite of mine but they are all good.

I wonder if Sondheim and/or Bernadette will go see him?

He was so great when we saw him...some people came in late and Mandy stopped everything to say hi to them and to fill them in on what they missed...he was so sarcastic but really funny about it...I remember he was all, "And then Barbra Streistand came out and we did a number that was cut from Yentle", etc...
And someone's cellphone rang, and he called out, "IS THAT FOR ME?"
REALLY puts on a good show...maybe I'll go see him again.
And he ended the evening with, "I am Indigo Montoya! You killed my father...prepare to DIE!" Very cute :)
I am seeing the show on Friday as well..
CTG, I also reeeeally dislike "Cat's in The Cradle", but am curious is Mandy's interpretation will make me like it a bit.
Saw the show last night. Wonderful, simply wonderful. Its held in the new dodger stages which are in a very modern yet intimate venue. I had second row seats, so needless to say, there was a bit of a saliva shower at times. Ive never seen Mandy in concert, but all the intensity id ever imagined from istening to his albums was definately still there. There were quite a few songs in the show Id never heard before, and he does a fantastic tribute to silent movies, but I'd say the highlights for me would be his rendition of "Oklahoma" or "Being Alive." ALl around, a great time. If you love mandy, this isnt to be missed.
Master, that's how I've always felt about that song, but by the time Mandy had finished singing it, I realized how refreshing it was to have heard it from him. I actually liked the song again. It might have been like a revival to me, but I still wouldn't enjoy hearing it over and over! I'm sure you'll enjoy his interpretation of the song.
I can't wait. Thanks for the review.
