Anyone seen JOHNNY BASEBALL?

I'll be seeing it on June 2nd. Did you enjoy it?

It was its first week, and there were already changes in the song list, so I can only imagine how much has been changed between then and now, and how much will change between now and its opening night.

To me, it was not a show about baseball at all. It was about racial equality. The show spends most of its two hours on a couple (separated by race) that doesn't have much to do with The Curse besides the fact that this couple produced a child.

It was kind of like if someone were to make a show about the birth of comedy television and spent most of it on Lucille Ball's parents. Then, a few songs before the end, it would mention that they had Lucille Ball, follow her for a song or two, then tie that loosely into the birth of comedy.

It was a lot of fun -- Paulus knows exactly what she's doing (as you find out right from the lobby transformation), and the music is very catchy and melodic (unlike many contemporary scores). The audience gave it an immediate standing O.

Definitely check it out; I want to know what others thought. Especially during its previews.
