Glancing through my local cable television guide the other day (in Australia) I was pleasantly surprised to see listed for the middle of November APPLAUSE starring Lauren Bacall and Larry Hagman. This is the telemovie that was made in Britain around 1973 after the run of the show in the West End. Now I had been led to believe that after the intial screenings in the 70's the tape had been put under lock and key never to be seen again. Miss Bacall wasn't happy with it. And now this.
Has it been released on DVD in the U.S.? Why the sudden reappearance? Can anyone enlighten me?

Posted: 10/31/04 at 10:25pmIt's never been released on VHS or DVD in this country. It played on US television back in 1973 and hasn't been seen here since. Copies are floating around (I got one from EBay), but otherwise it's apparently just sitting on shelf in vault somewhere.
