I bought SRO for NINE. Totally worth it! I am so taken with live theatre that I forget I'm standing.

I stood for RENT when it first opened. It was great - I could rest my beer cup on the railing, and yes, I couldn't help but dance a little during La Vie Boheme.
jon, you're making me want to go just so i can dance the La vie boheme song.... =)
I used to do SRO for Rent all the time. It was great. A really good view and quick access to the restroom. :)
I did Hairspray recently with Trisky and the only problem I had was that we were all the way on the right and I noticed that the back of the orchestra sort of sloped up so that our railing was taller than the railing on the left, towards the center of the orchestra. We're really short so we couldn't lean over onto the railing like the people to the left could. Thankfully an usher gave us seats for the second Act though.
Unfortunately my legs don't hold up for an entire show anymore. I had a pretty good orchestra seat for NINE but I switched with an older lady who was standing at the back during the intermission. Standing for half a show wasn't bad at all.
I also prefer standing for THE LION KING for one reason only. It gives me a chance to see the entrance of the animals. I then spend my time looking at the theatre. (The rest of that show never has interested me.)
If you're trying to save money -- check out "clear the boards" I've put the link below. Standing room is okay -- I did it for Mamma Mia, but my legs got tired in the second act. If standing room is around $25, first check the discounts on this site. It's worth paying $10 more for rear mezzanine!
