If you know, please tell me if there is a policy whereby the Best Musical and Best Play on Broadway each year are filmed for archive purposes.
I ask this because I discovered that there is an official film of the 1981 play 'Amadeus' with the original Broadway cast in existence (it won the Tony for Best Play). It was last shown at Lincoln Center by its Film Institute in 1997, according to a staffer there. I was hoping it would be available for private screening but the employee didn't think so.
Any clues you could provide would be most welcome.

I know for a fact the show does not have have to win a tony to be recorded. You can view them inside the library, but you have to reserve a time and date and what show you'll be viewing for "research purposes." You cant just say you want to view the show because you're a fan..
