After the couple missed four previous voluntary court appearances, an arrest warrant went out for them, and the District Attorney's office was proceeding with extraditing the Quaids from Texas to California until bond was posted.
Wait. So an arrest warrant wasn't issued until after they missed their court date the fourth time?!?! It's no surprise they thought they could get away with it since the courts let them do exactly that time and again. And apparently, they keep getting issued bonds they can afford only to skip out on court appearances for a crime that involved...SKIPPING OUT ON A HOTEL BILL. Throw the book at them and then throw it at the judges who didn't issue a warrant after their previous court absences starting with, oh I don't know...the first one? When it was a felony? All the idiotic morons need to go to jail who keep perpetuating this ridiculous escapade. When Randy and Evi Quaid make you look stupid, you deserve some time in the big house.

If they spent all of the time doing that, over a skipped hotel bill, this country would be a mess and have little money to spend in the Justice system.
You pick and choose your battles. They aren't an immediate threat to society... So of course the system waited it out. It's completely normal to do that. Don't get your panties bunched up SO tight!
Four times might seem like a lot but it's completely normal. The manpower and $$ doesn't always offer itself to process warrant after warrant & extradiction after extradiction over missing court because of an unpaid hotel bill.
Don't be so dignified and self-righteous. They'll ger their time in court, eventually. Just calm down.

For starters, TooDarnHot, it was a $40k hotel bill that was skipped. They don't have to spend "all their time dong that", just issue the arrest warrant the first time the felons skipped their court date, but is it really so intrusive to ask the judge and courts to follow the law that is practiced with mostly everyone else? Not to mention the money it costs to reschedule each court date.
And no, four times is not "normal", though I assume you are not speaking from personal experience. Many, many years ago I missed a court date once for a traffic violation. I was arrested and put in jail within the week (never made that mistake again). That was totally my fault and the justice system acted in accordance to the law. What is more "normal" is that higher-profile individuals generally get breaks the rest of the public do not. How many other non-threatening individuals do you think actually were arrested and put into the system in the last three months for the crimes they committed? My guess is more than two.

I don't wear panties and I am calm. If anything, I just find this whole thing absurdly asinine. These idiots committed more than two felonies when they skipped the first court date. How many felonies are we all allowed to commit before we get arrested?
