I saw Art Carney on Broadway in The Prisoner of Second Avenue. He starred in the Neil Simon play opposite Barbara Barrie. They replaced Peter Falk and Lee Grant.
Of course he was Ed Norton on the Honeymooners and also won an Oscar for Harry and Tonto.
Did you remember that he originated the part of Felix on Broadway in The Odd Couple? Walter Matthau originated Oscar.
I believe he also appeared in Broadway in Lovers and Other Strangers.
I particulary enjoyed him in the musical Honeymooners broadcast as part of The Jackie Gleason Show in the 1960s.....
Having died on Veterans' Day, it is appropriate to remember his service in the U.S. army.

What sad news!
TEACH, let me correct you: Art Carney's character on THE HONEYMOONERS was named Ed NORTON, and he didn't appear in the Broadway play LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS, but rather Brial Friel's play LOVERS.
"May flights of angels sing him to his rest."

i loved his acting and will miss him. Did not know of his service to the country as well.
And dearest Dolly, it is BriaN Friel i believe. Also love his plays, would have gladly seen Carney in that one.
