Here's a review I found on CB. I think this is the tour you're talking about. I never saw the Asian tour. Actually I've never been to Asia. Anyway it doesn't sound like we missed much as far as this production goes.
While the above review sounds rather bad, I think the Asia tour debacle people were talking about was referring to the planned World Tour that was done in 2005-2006, but ended up closing after only the Asia leg (It hit Hong Kong, Shanghai, and I think Tokyo?). I know it was supposed to go to at least Europe as well, but never made it any further; I have no idea why it didn't though. It was with Karen Mok as Mimi, Caren Lyn Manuel as Maureen, and Andy Senor as Angel, among others that I'm not remembering right now. The review from above was the non-equity US tour that also went to Tokyo, which, while sounding pretty bad, didn't prematurely close. The current national tour also went to Tokyo and Osaka, there's a crazy youtube video from the current tour, where after the last show in Tokyo, the audience started spontaneously singing Finale B after the playout and the band had left the stage.
