A friend of mine and I are having a debate. Assasins was a revival cast recording, yes or no?

The recording that just recently came out was a revival cast recording, yes.

how could your friend even have argued that it wasnt a revival. there was CLEARLY another production of assassins.

Well, there is an original cast recording -with Victor Garber, Patrick Cassidy, etc.

The one with Michael Cerveris, Neal Patrick Harris, etc. is the revival cast.

Actually, it is both a Revival Cast Recording AND an Original Broadway Cast Recording. Same thing with Little Shop of Horrors.
