Who are the characters in Assassins? I have only seen what what shown at the Tonys. I know theres John WIlkes Booth and thats it. Who are the rest? Updated On: 6/12/04 at 07:50 PM

Booth, Leon Czolgosz, Charles J Guiteau, Guiseppe Zangara, Sara Jane Moore, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, John Hinkley, Sam Byck, and Lee Harvey Oswald (Who is currently played by Neil patrick harris who also plays the balladeer) Also there is a shooting gallery propieter that has a big part in the first song, hope that helps

Lee Harvey Oswald (shot Kennedy)
John Hinckley (shot Reagan)
Squeaky Fromme (tried to shoot Ford)
Sara Jane Moore (tried to shoot Ford)
Giuseppe Zangara (tried to shoot FDR)
Leon Czolgosz (shot McKinley)
Charles Giuteau (shot Garfield)
Sam Byck (tried to kill Nixon by crashing a plane into the White House)

Plus there are other non-assassin characters like Emma Goldman, the Balladeer, the Proprietor, etc.

There's a duet with Squeekie Fromme, and John Hinkley, Jr. singing about their loves for Charles Manson and Tatum O'Neal, respectively.
By the way, these people were all nuts, and from what I hear, this show addresses that very well.

If I'm not mistaken, John Hinkley is singing about Jodie Foster, not Tatum O'Neal Watch me say this and then I turn out incorrect!

No you're right, its about Jodie Foster. He says "Jodie" in it. And to make it more specific he's in love with her character in the movie Taxi Driver.


When you get your playbill there's a description each Assassin, I suggest reading it before the show so you feel up to date on it all. It'll help if youre not already sure who is who.
