I'm considering going to see Assassins at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA. It's running May 30 – July 16, 2006. I'd like to attend one of the previews (it's the cheapest).
Is this a tour? I don't get that impression. How are the performers generally? I hear it's generally pretty good.
When I went to the online tickets website, there doesn't seem to be a seat setting. First come, first serve??

This is not a tour. Signature is one of the most respected regional theatres in the country, especally known for their Sondheim revivals. Sondheim himself has ventured down to Virginia to see their work and has praised many of their productions (he handpicked their artistic director Eric Schaeffer to direct a couple of shows in the Kennedy Center Sondheim Festival and act as artistic director of the entire festival).
Only subscribers get reserved seats; everything else is general admission. No matter -- the theatre is very small.
Just to echo Margo, Signature Theatre is a regional Equity theatre and their productions are nothing short of phenomenal! You really can't lose.

Signature is fantastic.
You will need a car though to get to the theater which is not easily accessible.
Go see "Nevermore" there now. World premiere musical about
Edgar Allen Poe!. See the reviews which are tremendous.
I saw Urinetown there. It is a very intimate space. They will move to a new theatre this year. I am not sure how big that one will be.
Their production is absolutely amazing.

Well, I just purchased tickets for the first preview. I can't wait. Should I buy one of the albums beforehand? (I'd like to buy the revival).

I recently purchased the revival album and absolutely love it. So much so that I am making a trip down to Arlington just to see this production.
