It happens to be known that I work for the press agent handling Mario's show -- I didn't want that fact to affect how people received my honest opinion of it.

i heard the show sucked ass.
looks like you're the only one, bbe...
I've got my tix for early Nov. Saw Joe Mantello leaving the theatre as I made my purchase.
I'm just saying what I heard. I havn't seen it. Don;t get mad at me!
There was a reference in this thread to the idea that Mario says what all of us sometimes think. That is NOT true. I have NEVER once thought like Mario and I am happy to admit that. I find him shrill, classless, loud and annoying and I think he has gotten worse as he has become full of himself with what he may consider his Broadway success (which consists of a total of about 14 months of total work on Broadway in shows). Sorry. I can't join in the love fest but the guy makes me nauseous
Don't be shy, Sam. Tell us what you REALLY think! :)
(BTW, I'm in agreement with Sam 100% on Mario, kids)

Bronx, I've never seen you post anything positive.
I have to admit, I was not a huge fan of Mario's when I went to see the show. I was definitely plesantly surprised.

Well,
I have seen Mario at comedy clubs and I think he is very funny.
He is a genius at impersonations. His Katherine Hepburn, Julia Child, Stritch, Sammy Davis JR and Carol Channing are right on the money.

CJR says: No. It's definitely geared towards an adult audience.
I presume you mean it has liberal use of the 'f' word, and talks a lot about people's sex organs.
By adult humor, I presume you DO NOT mean that it is adult by being intelligent and acerbic or urbane...since Mario doesn't DO those things.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. The jokes (however funny I found them) are completely inappropriate for children. Not to mention almost everything he talks about would fly right over the head of a child.

I'm a newbie, so don't get mad. What's a shill?

In a nutshell, a shill is typically a person associated with a show who does nothing but talk that show up. How great it is, how much other people will love it and how it's the best thing going.
Because I work for the press agency representing Laugh Whore, I didn't want people to think I was hyping the show up to something it's not, but rather, that I genuinely enjoyed it.
