I found this to be very interesting since so many people responded to this negative review. I saw the show in NYC and found it to be very moving.

It seems to be a polarizing play as far as critics and many audience members are concerned. The reviews here in New York were very mixed with several critics finding it to be something akin to a Lifetime Movie of the Week -- overly sentimental and trite. Others found it to be profoundly moving. I suppose, like anything, it's a matter of personal taste.

I also saw the play when it was in New York and loved the whole thing. I guess it takes an audience who can really get into the story and connect with the characters. I can understand how some people might not get it, while others are amazed by it. All in all, it is a wonderful play. It didn't seem like a Lifetime movie to me. The characters were so identifiable and I think that may be one of the reasons that some people think the play isn't that good. Because we can identify with them, this story isn't much of a departure from our everyday lives and some people can't just immurse themselves into the story. But it can also go the other way because they are so identifiable. I loved it! WOOT CYNTHIA!! (and John!

I live in Ohio and wish I was able to see the play in Cleveland. It would be interesting to see a different cast's take on the play.
