Audition Song Question!
#0Audition Song Question!
Posted: 11/19/04 at 10:35pmThis is just a general question, but is it ok if you're audition song doesn't match who you are? There's this song I love but it metions the person singing as being overweight and I'm small for my age. So is it ok or is it not? I'd love to sing anything Wicked for an audition but I'm sure that's got to be the biggest pet peeve of every director right now! So I'm looking for a good audition song that I can use for an audition a little ways off, Febuary but I like being prepared. If that isn't ok, then what's a good song for a soprano? Is I Enjoy Being a Girl a good song for auditions?

To sing a song that suggests characteristics unrelated to your type sends out mixed messages, such as 1) you don't understand what you're singing about, or 2) you don't know who you are or how you present, or 3) you don't care. Not exactly the qualities one wants to present when seeking a job.
