hey..i'm pretty new here but i was wondering if anyone had advice for me:
i'm going to be auditioning for the Wizard of Oz and my DREAM role is Wicked Witch of the West.
however, i'm blonde, blue eyed, tall, and a soprano..i can hit some mezzo or (on a REALLY special day) alto stuff...
can anyone recommend a song that might work well for me?

Here's an interesting thought: Why doesn't the Wicked Witch of the West have a SONG? All the other characters do!

There needs to be a complete song for WWOTW.
It would be added to the sequence where she attempts to remove Dorothy's shoes... a real song of menace... then heading into the dark reprise of Over the Rainbow (which Judy Garland sang in the outtakes from the movie)

i agree that she needs a song for herself...
but can anyone think of a song for ME to audition with that could get me the part..or at least help me along?

Posted: 9/29/04 at 11:05amWhen I did The Wizard of Oz, the witch didn't sing at all, so I think you're acting audition will be much more important. You might want to try to sing a character song, something that shows you can act, and play against type. I can't think of anything off hand, but hopefully that's a start.
