Hi
I'm new here and hope that you guys can help. I'm thinking of auditioning for Evita( and I'm scared to death! I have never tried this before) I'm a male so the only major male roles are Che and Peron right? WHat should I sing for a audition? I did a search but couldn't find anything so any help would be great. Thanks!

Che, Peron and Migaldi are the only male principals. A decent sized men's ensemble is also needed.

If you are auditioning for Che, look to JCS - a lot of Judas' music would suit Che perfectly.

Peron's part isn't anything special vocally - almost any baritone ballad would be suitable, just make sure if shows your low range.

If you want the part of Migaldi, you'll need something uptempo. It's definately more of a performance role, however, so make sure you put on a good show!

If you really have "never tried this before" you might want to reconsider picking some outrageously difficult song in the hopes of getting the lead. Not to be mean, but even at the community theatre level, its rare that someone who's never done a show or never even auditioned before snags the leading role...

That said, why don't you just pick a song you love to sing and that you sing really well? Ensemble in EVITA, btw, is really fun. Just be prepared to move!

Whatever you do - good luck and have fun - it will be a great learning experience! :)

If you have a range I would go for "oh what a circus" or go for something you love from any ALW musical. The title song Sunet Blvd has lots of range to that as well.

I wish I could sing.

Don't sing something from the show.
