The Gaslight Dinner Theatre and The Renaissance Player’s Community Theatre are excited to partner this summer for the production of Oklahoma!
Oklahoma! was the first musical written by composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical tells the captivating story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. The main plot revolves mainly around the question of who will take Laurey Williams to the box social--the decent Curly McLain or the sinister Jud Fry? Another romance concerns flirtatious Ado Annie and her long-suffering fiancé Will Parker. Oklahoma reintroduces the pioneering men and women of the American Southwest with music that will leave the audience humming for days after the production!
Auditions are open for those ages 12 and up. Auditions are at 7pm on either April 12th or 13th. There is no appointment necessary. Auditionees should prepare 16 measures of a song and be dressed to move.
Performances of Oklahoma! will take place on June 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th at 7pm, and June 13th, 20th and 27th at 2pm. Each evening performance has a dinner at 6pm and each Saturday performance features a lunch at 1pm and dinner at 6pm. Sundays are show only. For questions about auditioning please contact Amy Scott, Associate Director of Theatre at The Renaissance Center at 615-740-5551 or at amy.scott@rcenter.org.
